Approximately fifty automobiles have been smeared with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the Germany's city of Hanau close to Frankfurt, police confirm authorities.
Automobiles, exterior walls and postal boxes were marked, in some cases with Nazi symbols, they announced in a release.
Police report they were alerted in the late hours on Wednesday, when a resident noticed that a automobile in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been covered with a red-colored liquid.
The substance had been drawn in the form of a Nazi symbol, they reported.
Law enforcement then located multiple other smeared vehicles and house walls in the surrounding area.
These symbols are illegal in Germany under regulations outlawing the visible presentation of Nazi symbols.
Officials report initial examinations suggest the substance was probably blood from a person.
"At present there remains no lead as to where it came from; authorities are not yet informed of any physical harm in relation with the event," they commented.
City officials announced they were working "to solve the mystery" and have requested to the public for tips.
An important representative commented the attack made him stunned and needed to be resolved promptly.
"This act hits the core of Hanau and revives the wounds of the extremist attack half a decade ago," he stated on social media, referring to the killing of nine individuals by a assailant targeting residents of migrant background in five years prior.
