19 of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been earned on hard courts
A resurgent Daniil Medvedev secured his initial title for over two years with success over Frenchman Moutet in the Almaty Open final.
The athlete, a ex- world number one, has experienced a challenging period, achieving just one win at the big events and experiencing a difficult moment at the American major.
His inconsistency on the tennis tour - and struggles with his service game in especial - caused him dropping out of the top ten and eventually separating with former trainer Gilles Cervara.
Now collaborating with Johansson and Goetzke, he has gradually improved in the past month - culminating in a tightly fought competitive win over opponent Moutet.
It is Medvedev's initial title since the Rome competition and initial on a hard surface from March of that year.
Success also signifies the Russian has won 21 championships at twenty-one various tournaments.
"For the first time I'm at a tournament with my children simultaneously, so to get a title is really nice," commented ranked player Daniil Medvedev.
"This victory is in tribute of my younger daughter Victoria, because the first title I got when my first daughter Alisa was delivered was for her."
Medvedev, the past champion, had failed in his previous six finals, comprising in that event earlier this year.
The player's counter-punching approach and recurring outbursts on the tennis court had prompted some to question if his skill to compete at the elite level was concluded.
However the player has made changes in recent weeks, striving to advance forward and play assertively, backed up by an improved service.
Medvedev fought back from a deficit in the first set against the tricky Moutet, securing 4 of the concluding five exchanges to gain the advantage.
Both players exchanged break points in the following set before the challenger, striving for his maiden professional victory, seized the initiative to create a third set.
The opponent saved four early chances in a competitive third set before the Russian secured a break to 15 to secure the win.
Suitably, Medvedev secured the title with a point at the front of the court, with Moutet unable to control a shot after a lengthy match.
